Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has opened up about the physical challenges he faced leading up to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Despite Chippa United coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi previously suggesting the 29-year-old might miss the tournament due to required surgery on his ankle and hand, Nwabali managed to feature in Nigeria’s recent victory against Tunisia.
Speaking after the match, Nwabali credited the national team’s medical staff for his recovery.
He admitted that while he prefers to keep his struggles private, the reports regarding his fitness were accurate, emphasizing his determination to push through the pain to represent his country.
