Michael Owen, the ex-striker for Liverpool and Manchester United, has dramatically changed his mind, switching his Premier League title prediction from Liverpool to Arsenal.
Citing the Gunners’ strong start—where they currently lead Manchester City by three points after eight matches—Owen told Sky Bet that this is “the turn of Mikel Arteta’s side this season.” If successful, it would break a 22-year drought for Arsenal, who have notably finished as runners-up for the past three seasons.
Owen’s current Top Four prediction places Arsenal first, followed by Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea. He stated, “I don’t fancy Manchester City as much this year,” while still rating Liverpool highly.
As for the drop, Owen believes Leeds, Burnley, and Wolves are the likeliest candidates for relegation. He suggested that Nottingham Forest has a chance of survival thanks to their recent change in management.
