Jose Mourinho has admitted that Manchester United should not fear Fenerbahce ahead of their Europa League clash on Thursday.
The Portuguese manager, who previously led the Red Devils, acknowledged that while his current side, Fenerbahce, are under pressure, United should approach the match with confidence.
“I’m not the coach of Man Utd and I don’t see any reason for United to be afraid of Fenerbahce, but if they think it will be easy it would be the wrong approach,” Mourinho stated.
The former United boss also offered advice to Erik ten Hag, suggesting that the Dutchman should field a strong lineup for the match.
“I think they will come with maximum strength, that’s what I would do,” Mourinho said.
Despite United’s recent struggles, Mourinho expressed his support for Ten Hag. “I left Man Utd with a good feeling for the club and the fans. If things aren’t going well for the them that doesn’t make me happy,” he said. “What’s important to me is they keep faith in the coach because that gives stability.”
Both Fenerbahce and Manchester United have drawn their opening two Europa League matches, with the Turkish side currently ahead of the Red Devils in the group standings.
