Manchester United has dismissed head coach Ruben Amorim after just 14 months at the helm.
Following a 1-1 draw against Leeds and reported internal friction with club leadership, Amorim was notified of his termination Monday morning by Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox.
The club’s short-lived experiment with the Portuguese manager has proven costly; United is expected to pay a £10.05 million severance package to cover the remainder of his contract.
When factoring in the original £8.3 million buyout from Sporting Lisbon and early-release fees, the total expenditure for Amorim’s tenure reaches nearly £27 million.
