Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has expressed doubts about England’s prospects for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, asserting that four other nations are currently operating at a higher level.
Following England’s 2-0 World Cup qualifier victory over Albania on Sunday, Leboeuf stated that he ranks Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and his native France ahead of the Three Lions.
The Frenchman emphasized his assessment to OLBG, saying, “I don’t see England at the same level as the others right now,” adding that they are “not at the same level.
“Leboeuf also commented on the hypothetical appointment of a foreign coach like Thomas Tuchel, noting, “I believe a big footballing country like England doesn’t need a German coach to win the World Cup,” citing cultural perspective as a reason for his preference to “wait and see” before backing England.
