Barcelona manager Hansi Flick stood by his attacking tactics despite a chaotic 3-3 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Barça were forced to come from behind three times, with Brugge exploiting the team’s high defensive line for all their goals. With the result extending their run without a clean sheet to nine games, Flick’s high-risk style is under scrutiny.
“We want to play to our DNA; we don’t want a low block and transitions to win 1-0,” Flick told reporters. While acknowledging 3-3 isn’t the best result, he pointed to his team’s resilience.
Flick admitted, however, that the team failed to apply enough midfield pressure or win duels, which made it difficult for the defense to contain Brugge’s fast attackers. He confirmed the team would analyze and address these issues.
