SV Hamburg has bolstered its attacking options by securing Nigerian winger Philip Otele on loan from FC Basel, according to Daily Post.
The deal for the 26-year-old includes a €1.5m loan fee and an option for the Bundesliga side to make the move permanent for an additional €4.5m.
Despite joining Basel less than a year ago from UAE-based Al Wehda, Otele made a significant impact in Switzerland, recording 18 goals and 8 assists in 53 appearances.
The versatile forward, who has been assigned the number 27 shirt, recently earned a spot in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2025 AFCON. He joins a Hamburg side currently sitting 13th in the table as they look to climb the standings.
