Manchester City’s star striker, Erling Haaland, made history on Wednesday following his side’s 4-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland’s goal against the Bundesliga side, alongside strikes from Phil Foden (2) and Rayan Cherki, helped secure the win. The goal was his fifth in the Champions League this season (one shy of competition leader Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray) and his 27th overall in just 17 games for both club and country during the 2025/26 campaign.
Crucially, the goal against his former club, Dortmund, earned Haaland a new competition milestone: he became the first player in Champions League history to score in five consecutive games for three different clubs (Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and Red Bull Salzburg).
Following the match, teammate Jeremy Doku praised the Norwegian’s impact. “In terms of numbers, Erling is unbelievable,” Doku told TNT Sports. “Even yesterday he scored one goal, but he’s so much more than just goals and assists. He provides that for us – he’s so important for us.”
