Former Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has advised his old club on their January transfer priorities, identifying two key positions that require reinforcement.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the French international asserted that manager Enzo Maresca’s squad needs both a consistent striker and a centre-back next month.
Giroud elaborated: “He [Maresca] needs a striker who is consistent… A player who will score goals every single week.” He noted that while the squad possesses ample talent, it lacks experience.
“The squad is very young. Maybe he needs, or he feels he needs, one or two more players. Maybe a centre-back and a No. 9.”However, Giroud did show faith in a current player, adding: “But I do like Delap.
If we give him some time, I think he can be the type of striker to do the job.”
