Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has opened up about why Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has found minutes hard to come by in 2026.
After a blistering start following his summer move from Sevilla, the 29-year-old’s progress was derailed by a hamstring injury.
O’Neill admitted to the Daily Record that while Iheanacho has the technical ability to hold up play, his lack of full match fitness is a major hurdle.
“I don’t think he’s had a proper chance,” O’Neill confessed, noting that he currently views other players as “better equipped” for the physical demands of the Scottish league.
