Legendary former Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has made a bold statement, naming the current Gunners squad as the “best team” in the world.Speaking to CNN in Doha, the 76-year-old Frenchman was asked for his assessment of Mikel Arteta’s impressive campaign.
“They [Arsenal] don’t need me, but I’m a big supporter. Of course. They are the best team at the moment,” Wenger said (via HITC).
The high praise reflects Arsenal’s current dominant form, as they lead the tables in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
The North London club is widely considered a leading contender to win both competitions this seasona feat Wenger was never able to achieve during his three-Premier League-winning tenure, which concluded in 2018.
