In a landmark ruling, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stripped Senegal of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, awarding the championship to Morocco instead.
The CAF Appeal Board determined that Senegal officially forfeited the final after briefly walking off the pitch in protest of a late penalty decision.
Although the Teranga Lions eventually returned to the field under Sadio Mané’s leadership and secured a 1-0 victory on the night, CAF ruled that the initial walk-off violated Article 84 regarding the abandonment of play.
As a result, Morocco has been handed a 3–0 walkover victory and the continental trophy.
