Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has addressed the potential for a penalty shootout in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Morocco.
With only one match in the tournament Mali vs. Tunisia having been decided by spot-kicks so far, the stakes are high.
Following Nigeria’s recent penalty loss to DR Congo in the 2026 World Cup playoffs, Chelle was asked how the team is preparing for a similar scenario against the Atlas Lions.
He responded: “I will go to the mosque to pray to win if we get to a penalty shootout.”
A victory for the Eagles, whether in 90 minutes or through a shootout, would secure their place in Sunday’s final against either Senegal or Egypt.
