Former England and Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has issued a warning to the Gunners, urging them to regard Chelsea as serious Premier League title contenders following their recent draw.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the 1-1 draw between Arsenal and 10-man Chelsea on Sunday, Walcott stressed that Arsenal must respect the Blues’ title aspirations.
Chelsea had taken the lead early in the second half despite Moises Caicedo’s red card, before Mikel Merino’s header canceled out Trevor Chalobah’s goal.
While the result keeps Arsenal atop the table, six points clear of Enzo Maresca’s side, Walcott noted that Chelsea’s primary issue has been “too many red cards,” while Arsenal’s must avoid the “too many draws” problem that plagued their previous campaign.He suggested that although Arsenal is currently “very comfortable,” they need to find “more gears” and “pick up the intensity from start to finish.”
