Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has officially designated Kylian Mbappé as the team’s primary penalty taker.
Alonso made the announcement during his pre-match press conference for the UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.
“Who takes penalties? We decide who will take them, it’s Kylian,” Alonso stated, as quoted by The TouchlineX. “Then, the players make the decisions. Tomorrow, the first taker is Mbappé.”
The France captain, 26, has been in exceptional form for Los Blancos since joining from Paris Saint-Germain last year, notably winning the top scorer awards in La Liga and Europe last season.
