Philippe Coutinho is set for an imminent move to Barcelona and will be joined by Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

While Liverpool owners released a statement saying they intend to keep Coutinho at the club, Barcelona have been boosted by his attempts to agitate his way out of Anfield.

Liverpool have already rejected an offer from Barcelona worth £90million but the Spanish outfit have been boosted by the playmaker's attempt to agitate his way out of the club by handing in a transfer request.

According to the Catalan daily, Barcelona will make a renewed bid for Coutinho in the coming days and also hope to bring young Frenchman Dembele in alongside him.

Nou Camp officials are ready to allocate the entire £198m they received from Neymar's departure to PSG in signing the two players, with the report claiming each deal will be worth in excess of €100m (£91m).

Coutinho will not play in Liverpool's Champions League play-off against Hoffenheim on Tuesday and was also absent from the team that drew 3-3 with Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.

That was put down to a niggling back injury but Sport say his absence is the result of a decision from both Coutinho and the club to make sure he does not hamper the operation with a significant setback.

Dembele, meanwhile, could take longer to arrive at Camp Nou with officials split over his transfer fee, which some deem too high considering he has played just one season at the top level.

The 20-year old burst onto the scene with Stade Rennes midway through the 2014-15 campaign and was exceptional in his debut season at Dortmund, scoring eight goals and providing 18 assists.
