Chelsea need to emphasise calm and not overreact to their current situation, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Blues have endured a horror week, which started on Saturday with their 3-2 loss to Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

To compound the anxiety around the club, Diego Costa released a statement yesterday threatening thethat he would stay in Brazil and not return to Chelsea training.

Carragher also suggested that Blues manager Antonio Conte should sign two more players before the transfer window shuts on August 31.

"Chelsea need to do the exact opposite of panicking," said the Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit.

"A couple of seasons ago when they drew with Swansea on the opening day and they had the incident with the club doctor, all of sudden it felt like Chelsea were under pressure.

"I felt like people were fanning the flames. The story was getting bigger and bigger until Jose Mourinho eventually lost his job.

"They've lost one game at home - they should be thinking now 'relax'.

"They've got two games between now and the transfer window shutting. Antonio Conte needs to get two players in - they need strengthening, especially in the wing-back
